- On February 08, 2024, the President of Congress, Mallikarjun Kharge, made a sarcastic comment about former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda's party, JDS, joining NDA. In response, former PM H D Deve Gowda asked Kharge if Congress would tolerate him as their party's Prime Ministerial candidate.

Deva gowda became the prime minister because Congress support. His son became CM of Karnataka twice by the support of Congress. But, he criticised the Congress party against his own conscience. In this senior age, he must be thankful to Congress party for attaining such a highest constitutional post of Prime Minister instead of blaming Congress for his own party debacle.
